European Energy marks strongest half-year yet with 1.7 GW build-out

European Energy recorded increased activity in the first half of 2025, with 1.7 GW of renewable projects under construction. The portfolio included wind, solar, green hydrogen and battery storage projects, as well as the divestment of 1,252 MW of assets, including six wind farms in Poland.

Sif reports lower output but maintains confidence in long-term offshore wind market

Sif has reported a challenging first half of 2025, with market headwinds and production delays affecting results, though confidence remains strong for the medium to long term. Operationally, Sif delivered foundations for 529 MW of renewable capacity, down from 773 MW in the same period last year. Total production reached 80 kilotonnes, compared with 86 kilotonnes in 2024.
Buchan Offshore Wind submits consent applications for floating wind project

Buchan Offshore Wind has submitted offshore consent applications to Scottish Ministers for a proposed floating wind farm located 75 kilometres northeast of Fraserburgh on the Aberdeenshire coast. The project, awarded seabed rights through the ScotWind leasing round in 2022, is planned with a capacity of nearly 1 GW and up to 70 turbines, with a targeted grid connection in 2033.
Nordex to supply turbines for Trianel wind farm in Germany

Nordex has received an order to supply and install eight N149/5.X wind turbines in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. The project is the 45.6 MW Tasdorf wind farm, located in the Plön district.
Entura collaborates with Afry on Victoria offshore wind auction

Australian consultancy Entura has entered into a collaboration with Afry, a European engineering and advisory group, to support offshore wind feasibility licence holders preparing to bid in Victoria’s upcoming offshore wind auction.
Van Oord pilots oyster reef restoration

At least half a million flat oysters will be released into the Port of Rotterdam on 2 September as part of a pilot project combining oyster reef restoration with offshore wind and other marine infrastructure. The initiative is led by Van Oord together with research institutes, nature organisations and companies.
Mitsubishi withdraws from three Japanese offshore wind projects

Mitsubishi Corporation has announced it will withdraw from three Japanese offshore wind power projects. Mitsubishi Corporation, through a consortium led by its subsidiary Mitsubishi Corporation Offshore Wind Ltd., has been developing offshore wind projects in three areas off the coast of Japan: Noshiro City, Mitane Town, and Oga City (Akita Prefecture); Yurihonjo City (Akita Prefecture); and Choshi City (Chiba Prefecture). The consortium won the first state auctions for the three wind farms in Chiba and Akita prefectures in 2021.
US administration to withdraw approval for Maryland offshore wind project

The administration of US President Donald Trump plans to withdraw federal approval for US Wind’s 2.2GW offshore wind farm off the coast of Maryland, according to a filing in the US District Court in Delaware. Department of Justice attorneys asked the court to stay a lawsuit challenging the Interior Department’s approval of the Maryland Offshore Wind Project. They said the agency would move to vacate the facility’s construction and operations plan by September 12.
Palinger Marine wins crane supply contract for Baltica 2 offshore wind farm

Palinger Marine has secured a contract to deliver 108 fixed boom service cranes for the Baltica 2 offshore wind farm in Poland. The order includes 107 fully electric PF120 cranes for installation on the turbine service platforms and one additional unit for training purposes.
