A live demonstration of an airborne wind energy system will take place on Tuesday, 13 May 2025, outside the European Parliament in Brussels. The public exhibition will be held on the Esplanade between Space Léopold and Luxembourg Station.
The event offers the public the opportunity to see a 40 square metre airborne wind energy system in operation. Designed as a low-footprint alternative to traditional wind turbines, the technology uses tethered flying devices to capture wind energy at higher altitudes, where wind speeds are generally stronger and more consistent. The exhibition aims to raise awareness of the potential of airborne wind energy as a future component of the renewable energy mix. The event is free and open to all, with the full system on display outdoors for visitors to explore throughout the day.
